The truely embodies the harrowing times for ordinary women branded as witches. What are witches? intelligent women, women that were unwanted, women who had oppinions. Women who did not have a vote, did not have power of money, banded together to protect each other. They learnt about herbs because they coudnt afford medicine. 

The artwork is based on a particular event in salem. The map covers the skull true to the times when the trials took place. The extinguished candle represents the lives lost and the pentagram show the symbol of witchcraft. The star pointing to the 5 elements showing again the connection to the earth. The newspaper documents the trials and the magifying glass highlights the word witchcraft, this is to signify they were finding excuses to kill ordinary people.

finally the black cat. This poor innocent creature is simply a black cat, persecuted. When all is said and done that cat was simply just a cat.
